Celebrating aviation leaders everywheretaking the industry to new heights

Project overview

League of Aviation was a social media campaign I created to promote the Q&A panel at an Air Cargo Handling Conference in Budapest. The panel featured industry leaders who serve as role models to many. Inspired by the idea that role models are like superheroes, I designed comic-style illustrations of the speakers. I also created the print and promotional materials for the conference as the event graphic designer. This case study presents a redesign of the campaign, updating visuals and concept while keeping the event’s authentic context.

The Challenge: The only direction given was that the event needed marketing.

Project Scope: I took the initiative to conceptualise a campaign that visually celebrates the speakers’ influence, aligns with the conference brand, and encourages sharing and attendance, while making the content fun, memorable, and highly engaging.

I explored how role models inspire us and realised that industry leaders can feel like real-life superheroes. This insight led to the concept of portraying the speakers as comic-style superheroes, linking their influence and leadership to a fun, engaging visual narrative. I also researched the speakers’ backgrounds and content trends in the aviation industry to ensure the campaign resonated with the audience.

Building on the insights from the Mind Map and Comparison Map, I translated aviation speakers’ traits into superhero personas. I sketched and refined comic-style illustrations that brought their leadership, impact, and inspiration to life, turning abstract qualities into engaging visuals. Each concept was crafted with clear messaging and post objectives in mind, ensuring the campaign not only captured attention but celebrated the speakers’ influence in a fun, memorable way.

Story Boarding

This strip visualises the transformation of aviation speakers into superhero personas, with the chief moderator sending out the “Calling all heroes of aviation” message—highlighting the creative steps and narrative that shaped the campaign.

Prototype

With the concept and superhero visuals defined, I created and refined the social media assets to ensure they were engaging, clear, and aligned with the campaign goals. This phase involved experimenting with layouts, typography, messaging, and colour usage to optimise visibility and impact across platforms. Each iteration brought the campaign closer to a final version that was both fun and memorable, ready to capture the audience’s attention in the lead-up to the event.

The palette blends strength, creativity, and optimism, balancing aviation professionalism with the energy of comic art. Rouge brings vibrancy and passion, Navy Blue grounds the visuals with authority, Teal adds freshness and balance, and Orange introduces a spark of innovation. Together, they create a bold and cohesive aesthetic that stands out across all platforms.
